Designer Highlight | Freida Rothman

When I got back from New York  last week I headed straight to Halls to meet jewelry and accessory designer Freida Rothman! I was so excited to see her collection and meet the talent behind these gorgeous designs. Freida was born and raised in New York and grew up in the jewelry industry. Naturally her passion for designing jewelry started at a young age and she eventually found herself designing for private label brands in her career before eventually launching her own line in 2010. What I noticed right away about her pieces was a gorgeous matte finish, beautiful stones, and very detailed designs. The matte finish of the pieces makes them very versatile and great for mixing with fine or everyday jewelry.

Freida hand sketches each jewelry piece when she designs and she is known for designing both sides of the piece, so if a pendant flips as you are wearing it there is a design element on each side. Several of the pieces had shields and geometric designs incorporated into them. She told me she often finds inspiration around her and she had noticed a shield on a fire truck in New York and loved the idea of incorporating some shields onto the pieces of the collection.

I loved meeting Frieda and learning all about her line of gorgeous jewelry and accessories! I picked up a pair of earrings and I can't wait to wear them soon! Thanks to Halls for inviting me to be a special guest at her trunk show! I really enjoyed meeting her!

Behind the Scenes at Jenny Packham | New York Fashion Week

One of the biggest highlights of my trip to New York was going backstage at the Jenny Packham show! I have loved her designs for quite some time, so being able to check out the new S/S 2016 collection as it made it's runway debut was pretty fab! Jenny is known for her gorgeous red carpet gowns worn by celebrities such as Taylor Swift, Uma Thurman, Angelina Jolie, Emily Blunt, Kate Winslet, Kate Hudson, and the Duchess of Cambridge...just to name a few!

Watching all the models get hair and makeup done by some of the best in the business and experiencing the hustle of backstage at a NYFW show was absolutely amazing! (behind the scenes video here!)  The hair team from Unite and the makeup team from Laura Mercier were on point! They were getting the girls ready and styled and also talking with press! I was in a total dream watching it all come to life!

Aqua blue eye shadow with a pop of red, orange, or nude lips was a continuous theme on all the models. The vision of the collection was a glamorous party girl, beautiful and refined but still with an edge of rock n' roll!

What an amazing experience it was to go BTS and also check out the S/S 2016 Collection!

New York Fashion Week | Day One

Day one of New York Fashion Week was absolutely amazing! It was a non-stop day of meetings and shows and running all around NYC! I stopped by the Kendra Scott showroom and also went to the Francesca Liberatore and Monique Lhuillier runway shows! I knew I needed an outfit that would get me around town looking put together and take me from day to night. I ended up really loving this look that I pulled together from pieces I already had in my closet. Packing for New York was a little rushed so I re-styled many of my looks from pieces I hadn't worn together yet or hadn't worn for a while out of  my closet. Watch for more of my looks from NYFW on the blog over the next few days!

Summit Fair | Splash of Fall Colors

My mind is all fall fashion right now! I've been shopping the stores at Summit Fair for clients and scoping out the best fall pieces for the blog. It has been a constant change of new merchandise and it's really inspiring to switch up my wardrobe for the changing season. I love to style fall looks because it's fun to mix some warm weather pieces with some cooler weather pieces. I found this fun fall dress in the prettiest shades of orange and blue and I knew it was keeper! I paired it with a dark denim jacket and black booties for a mix of casual and dressy!

Stylist Tip: Wear your dresses now with booties and a jacket. Early fall is the perfect time to incorporate some of your summer/fall dresses into your wardrobe with some key accessories! I like to look for dresses in darker fall tones and colors.
