My First Home

I am sorry for the lack of updates this past week or so, I am getting ready to move and it has been taking up all of my blog time :) Moving is exhausting!

I have lived by myself in my own apartment for two years. Over the past two years, I have become a stronger, wiser, more patient, and hard working person while living inside these walls. I am moving in just a few days, but the time I have spent living in this place will always be important to me.

My Blogging Space

Shelves filled with books, photographs, and memories

I always have magazines and my latest reading materials on the coffee table

A girl can never have too many purses

My happy place :)

I love perfume bottles

Jewelry and perfume

I love to collect books - old and new

I always pull out pieces from my closet that I am wearing more frequently to make several outfits ready to go quickly - outfit changes and fashion event wardrobes made easy!

Some people organize their closet my color, I like to organize my closet by style. I put dressy tops together, jackets together,  skirts/pants, and dresses together. T-shirts, tanks, and jeans get folded onto my shelves.

Keeping my closet organized is a must! I organize my shoes by facing one forward and one backwards to fit more on the shelves.

Felt hangers are my favorite. They are skinny so they don't take up too much space and they hold your clothes on so shoulder straps don't slip off.

Looking forward to a new transition in my life, moving on and moving forward....fresh starts always feel good :)

Kansas City Fashion Week Spring 2014

Union Station Kansas City, MO

Kansas City Fashion Week kicked off its fourth consecutive season on Thursday October 3rd. Each night was an amazing collection of mostly local and a few out of town designers. For me, this was a new experience at KCFW. I have spent the last three seasons behind the scenes working along side some amazing people who make all the magic happen. This season I decided to put my blogging cap on take a look at the show from a new perspective. I was excited to apply as a media blogger and experience the shows from a new point of view!

Thursday Night

This season Tiffany Headley's  Haus of Donna Faye collection had a dark and edgy twist. I loved watching the models come down the runway in long draping dresses and capes. After seeing this collection, I know she has really grown as a designer from the past two seasons of KCFW. All of the details of her collection were well executed, from the haunting music, to the way the models walked and posed, to the styling of each piece. Black feathered birds, cages, and tree branches, made watching it come down the runway very fascinating. I enjoy seeing her designs and hope she continues to show at KCFW.

The jewelry from Erin Paige's collection was so gorgeous! Bright beautiful designs and colors shown beautifully on each model who wore a long draping white dress down the runway. I had an opportunity to see a few of her pieces at the KCFW preview party and couldn't believe how light weight and detailed every piece was.

Friday Night

Friday night's show started with a sparkly "It Girl" themed runway presentation from Bridget Julia Couture. I loved the color combinations and fun silhouettes of the party girl dresses! One of my favorite looks from this collection was a black and fuchsia dress with long sheer sleeves and feathered skirt pictured here in the front. The final piece a teared purple gown was absolutely gorgeous!!! Very excited to see more from Bridget!

The excitement in the room when the House of Cochon models hit the runway was electric! Short yellow wigs and retro themed designs decorated the runway! I loved everything about this collection and the fun way that the jewelry pieces were presented!

I adored Jillian Fellers collection! Jillian is known for handmade bridal and event dresses with a vintage inspiration. Her Spring 2014 collection presented with a "Great Gatsby" theme was very evident from the soundtrack to the styling of hair and makeup. I felt like a couple of the models walked right out of the movie! I am looking forward to seeing more from her in upcoming seasons.

Saturday Night

I was very excited to see Lauren Bander return to Kansas City Fashion Week. I really enjoyed her collection last season and I couldn't wait to see what she had in store for Spring 2014. She did not disappoint me, her dresses were  amazing and I really loved her color story of light mauve, toned green, tan, and creme neutrals. It was nice to see her stay away from the traditional bright colors of spring and to choose subtle colors to accent her amazing designs. One of my favorite pieces of her collection was the mauve asymmetrical dress with the cream piping.

One of Kansas City Fashion Week's rising stars, Christian Micheal is known for high quality designs and seamless details. He never disappointing me with his runway presentations and I am always excited to see what he is going to do next. This is one of my favorite collections from fashion week because every piece is wearable and well made. I loved the color combinations, bow ties, and the preppy style.

Hilary Brown
I really loved Hilary's Spring collection! The blue and turquoise colors of the swimwear were so beautiful! I also really enjoyed how she presented the collection with flowing cover ups, skirts, and bows on the backs of the swimwear. As the collection progressed it gradually changed to more and more dresses and finally the last piece was a black dress with light up tool underneath!

What a way to close the show! Kate Walz amazes me every time I see her collections. She is very young, but very talented! Just barley 16, Kate has the craftsmanship of a seasoned designer with years of experience. Her spring 2014 collection was like a fairy tale come to life. Princess gowns, tiaras, and diamond detailing were consistent throughout all of her pieces. I know she is a star and I can't wait to see where her designs take her!
