Trend: Blanket Scarves

If you are like me, fall and winter means one exciting thing - Layers! My favorite fall and winter staple is the most important: scarf! I am completely obsessed with the blanket scarves that I have seen all over Pinterest. I have been looking high and low for the perfect one to add to my wardrobe, not that I need one more scarf in my closet, but I gotta have one! :) hehe! I can't pass up this comfy casual trend and I love the many ways the scarves can be wrapped, layered, twisted, and folded. The temperatures in Kansas City have been on the seriously cold side, and this blanket scarf would be perfect for staying warm.

Here are a few places I have been scoping out to possibly make my blanket scarf purchase.

Shop Zara Blanket Scarves, Here
Shop Madewell Blanket Scarves, Here
or check out The Providence Story on Etsy for handmade blanket scarves!

Have you added a blanket scarf to your fall/winter wardrobe yet? Where did you find one?

PayPal Shopping Spree in NYC with Style and Pepper!

I was so shocked and ecstatic when I found out that I won this giveaway from Style and Pepper & PayPal, that I cried!!! Yes, I cried! LOL! I couldn't believe I was going to New York for a $1,000 shopping spree with one of my favorite bloggers...AMAZING!!!!!

Basically this giveaway was so much fun to enter that I actually forgot that I had done it! The idea was to create a "PayPalit Dream Closet"  board on Pinterest with items that you dream of having in your closet --EASY RIGHT!?! I went to town creating my board with outfits, shoes, accessories, and some New York inspiration mixed in. I'm a bit addicted to Pinterest as it is, so when I had a theme and inspiration of NYC this was bound to be over the top! Check out my winning Pinterest board HERE and make sure to follow me too!

I was flown to NYC by PayPal last week for a two night stay and spent an entire day shopping with Jessie of Style and Pepper and Hope of Paypal. I started following Jessie's blog a couple of years ago when she lived in Kansas City and it has been one of my favorite blogs to follow ever since. I was so excited to meet her in person and chat about blogging, fashion, and some of her favorite places to go in NY!

We met up at a little coffee shop in Soho called Prodigy Coffee, a perfect start to our busy day. It was amazing fall weather of 60 degrees and sunshine as we headed to some stores that I knew I wanted to visit. American Eagle, Joe Fresh, Zara, MANGO, and Bloomingdale's were all on the list. Jessie also took me to some vintage resale shops and boutiques that she likes to shop at in Soho, which I absolutely loved! Those are always my favorite stores because of the rare and fun things you can find. We lunched at a stylish Mediterranean Restaurant called Jack's Wife Freda. I had an amazing taco salad as we chatted about life, fashion, guys, and Kansas City :)

I had the best time shopping, meeting new friends, and enjoying the day in New York! Thank you a million times to PayPal and Style and Pepper for everything!

Fashion Focus Chicago

The white tents of fashion week made it to Chicago for the 9th annual Fashion Focus: Chicago's Fashion Week! (October 15th - 20th 2013)

This was my first time attending fashion week in the windy city, despite living there during college. Chicago's Millennium Park is the perfect location for the beautiful fashion shows with the backdrop of the city. The pre-party was a lot of fun and I was lucky to meet a couple of other fashion bloggers from Iowa and Illinois.

Chicago Fashion Week is celebrated all over the city with fashion shows not just in Millenium Park but in several other locations all over town. It is a week long celebration with trunk shows, runway shows, art shows, and parties.

Several of the runway shows and events are free. I attended two nights of shows. Wednesday night "Taking It To the Streets" runway show was a free event and I quickly picked out two designers I will be keeping my eye on.  Sarah Stevenson and Randall Hill were my definite favorites of the night!

The event I attended on Friday night was a runway show presented by StyleChicago.com. This event did have a ticket price but is one of the most popular shows of the week. It showcases 10 Chicago based designers: Maria Pinto, Calvin Tran, Eva Pazola, Boris Powell, Lily & Migs, Michelle Tan, Hector-Javier MonArrez, Shalini Sharma, Shernett Swaby.

Fall Layers: Fur Vest + Skinny Jeans + Booties

These past few weeks of fall have been so beautiful in Kansas City! The weather has been perfect for layering light weight pieces like this fur vest I scored at the end of the season last year.

Vest {TJMaxx} Plum layering tee {Maurices} Skinny Jeans {Loft} Booties {Target} Purse {Thrift Store} Sunnies {Target}

I'm loving the look of cuffing up my jeans and wearing cute booties. I just bought this great taupe colored pair that I know will be a fall and winter staple in my wardrobe.

Daylight Saving time has made it hard for me to get my outfit posts done in the evening! I will do my best to keep them coming :) I love the fall, but sure miss that evening sunshine!
