Fallin' For Florals

Fallin For Florals

Who says florals are only for spring!?! I've been seeing these dark floral prints popping up everywhere for Fall and I absolutely love it! Rich dark colors of this girly pattern on pants, jackets, and dresses are a must have trend going into this coming season. I am looking forward to paring these prints with leather, suede, and chain accents to create an edgier vibe. Don't be afraid to turn your favorite summer dress into a Fall "It" dress by layering it up with a jacket and some cute suede booties!

What do you think? Will you be fallin' for florals?

{Travel} Texas Fun!

I spent this past weekend on my last summer vacation. I'm kind of sad to see it go, but it was definitely the best trip of my summer! I've never been to Texas but have always heard great things and I was so excited to check it all out! One of my favorite things ever is to explore new cities and discover new restaurants, shopping, and attractions. It's always so nice to get away and I needed that last Summer refresh before Fall sets in.

On Friday, I went to the George W. Busch Presidential Library and Museum to attend the Oscar de la Renta: Five Decades of Style Exhibit! I was so excited to see the designs of an American legend and one of the most successful fashion designers of all time! I was in awe of the detailed hand beading and embroidery on the garments. So happy I had an opportunity to see this exhibit while it was still in Dallas. I highly recommend checking it out if you are in the area.

Next, we checked out the rest of the permanent exhibit at the George W. Busch Museum. My favorite part was the replica Oval Office.

Before heading home we went to the Royals vs Rangers game! We had a blast at the game and of course it was even better because our KC Royals won!!

I'm back home now, ready for Fall and ready for some fun things to be announced in the next few weeks!
Stay tuned :)

Parlor: A Beauty Bar {Easy Hair Styles for Sweater Weather}

Don't you just love the way your hair feels when you leave the salon?!? That perfect amount of volume and bounce from a flawless blow dry. I can never get that same feeling when I dry out my own hair at home. Sometimes I just want my hair to have that refreshing feeling in between cut and color appointments and that is where Parlor: A Beauty Bar comes in! You may have seen this gorgeous salon at their first location on the Country Club Plaza and now they have just opened a second location at Town Center! Parlor is Kansas City's first blow dry and beauty bar. There is no color or cutting,  just shampoo, blow dry, and styling. If you are headed out for a night out with your  girlfriends get your makeup touched up too at the beauty bar!

Here is a list of the great styles you can choose from {Parlor Picks}

I stopped into the new location to have some fun with Kenya, one of the fabulous Parlor Stylists! We wanted to create some looks that would be perfect for sweater weather. I know it isn't quite cold enough yet to pull on our knits and cowl necks but I thought I would get you thinking about some fun things you can do and some ideas to start practicing now. One thing I absolutely can't stand is when my hair gets stuck in the neck of my sweater or even worse gets that awful static cling! NO THANKS! I'm always looking for cute ways to keep my hair up and out of the way.

We started out by giving my hair an all over wavy curl for texture and hold with a 1" curling iron. I have pretty thin hair, so I like to put a little bit of wave in it to give it some body.

The products Kenya used on my hair were amazing! Have you tried the Living Proof line yet? If you haven't, pick up the root boosting Amp Instant Texture Volumizer! It was amazing and made my hair have an instant lift without feeling sticky and weighed down. I loved it!

For the first look Kenya pulled my hair back into a messy bun using a clear elastic band and left the top section of my hair out. She then teased the roots of the top section of my hair creating some volume on top of my head. Next, she pulled back pieces from the top and bobby pinned them into my messy bun. This created a soft pulled back look without too much effort.

She left a section on the side of my part to braid along the side of my head that would be tucked into the messy bun. She created a french braid by starting the braid as usual and then gradually pulled in more pieces as she went along. This kept the braid thick and close to my head.

And there you go!! An effortless but polished looking up-do that will keep your hair out of your neckline.

Fall 2014 is all about soft hair and dewy skin. For a next day look, pull your hair out of your messy bun and you will have wavy body and curls left for a half up, half down look.

For the next style, we pulled my hair into a low side pony tail with those pretty waves flowing over my shoulder.

 For a more pulled up look, take pieces from your pony tail and pin them up into the center of your ponytail criss-crossing and weaving the pieces across one another to create a weaved and pretty pinned up look.

Another look that is always classic and glam is pulling back one whole side of your hair and leaving the other side very full and wavy.

After we had some fun with my hair, I checked out the fabulous makeup bar! The lipstick shades were endless and all so gorgeous! I am a lipstick girl for sure! I love to change up my lip colors with the seasons and always love experimenting with new colors!

I wish I owned every shade!

I ended up going with a color called "Adele" to match my glam hair style. I had an amazing time with the ladies at Parlor and can't wait to go back! They took amazing care of me and I had a blast!

Go Blog Social Summer Meet Up

Thursday night I attended the summer meet up for Go Blog Social at Kate Spade on the Country Club Plaza. I attended the two day conference for Go Blog Social back in April and met some amazing new friends and also learned a ton of info for my blog. I was so excited when I heard there would be a Summer meet up at Kate Spade because it's always so fun to meet up with all the other Kansas City bloggers! I feel like this group of talented women are a sort of support system to one another and we all know so much about each other so getting to sip on a cute drink and laugh together is definitely necessary! :)

I resisted making any purchases at Kate Spade but they did have a pretty amazing 20% discount going on during the event! Here a few of my favorite bags that are in store right now!

I decided to wear this fun stripe dress to the get-together. I love the bright colors and thought it would be a perfect ensemble for a night out!

The Kate Spade store on the Country Club Plaza is gorgeous and I love the beautiful colors and these amazing chandeliers!

Thank you Gussied Up for taking these photos of me!

Sister Birthday Brunch

My sister is celebrating her birthday this week and we knew that meant one thing.... a sister day full of shopping and brunch on the Plaza. This gorgeous weather has been perfect for outside dining and a Peach Bellini too of course! We had a great time just hanging out and shopping and we couldn't have asked for a better day!

I want to make sure I enjoy these last couple weeks of summer because I know cold weather comes so quick and I will miss the warm air and sunlight so much! I can't believe how fast these last couple months have flown by. I like to be busy, but sometimes a nice relaxing day spent with my sister is the best thing ever and I definitely needed it.

Have you done everything on your Summer to do list?

Shirt {Marshalls} White Destructed Skinny Jeans {Audacious Boutique} Purse {Henri Bendel} Shoes {Old Navy} Sunglasses {LC Lauren Conrad for Kohls similar} Necklace {Maurices similar here and here} Bracelet - but I've been eyeing this pretty white watch {Target}

Chanté Gossett F|W 2014 Presentation

Last Thursday night I attended Chanté Gossett's F|W 2014 Presentation at Skyline Salon in Downtown Kansas City. I first read about Chanté in an article in KC Magazine and knew she was a designer to keep my eye on. Her designs are beautiful, edgy, and modern, yet still very wearable. She has an incredible talent for fabric manipulation through hand painting, dying, weaving, felting, and just about any other process you can think of. She is beyond talented and I knew this would be a beautiful collection to see!
This collection had a lovely colored hand painted technique used on several of the pieces. I loved the white, high waisted, wide legged pants paired with the strapless top and several of the dresses were absolutely gorgeous!

I had a great time at the presentation and will be looking forward to seeing more from Chanté! I can't wait to see what she does next!

Her past collections are just as beautiful so make sure to take a look at them {HERE}
