SS '18 | KCFW Friday Night Runway

Happy Tuesday Fashionistas! Today I am sharing the details from my look for the Friday night shows at Kansas City Fashion Week! The Spring/Summer 2018 Collections were presented by Helzberg Diamonds and held at the iconic Union Station. I had an amazing time attending the shows and seeing so many friends from the Kansas City fashion industry in attendance. I always get so excited to get dressed up and head downtown for the amazing presentation and stunning fashion designs of #KCFW! It's inspiring to see so much talent from my hometown and also from all over the country showcasing at such a beautiful venue right here in the Midwest!

Check out the complete list of S/S '18 Designers HERE!

Moto Jacket + Cool Girl Vibes | Summit Fair

Hey there! Thursday has arrived, and that means I am back with another styled look from the stores at Summit Fair! This week I wanted to talk about one of the most popular "must-have" fall pieces this season, the Motorcycle Jacket! The Moto Jacket gives any fall look an instant boost in coolness points! This season's versions, with intricate zippers and pocket details, are as badass as ever! Fresh colors and feminine touches have elevated them to easily be worn for any occasion, dressed down or dressed up, making them a very versatile and chic fashion statement for any woman. Today I styled this light gray faux leather Moto Jacket with a light weight sweater and distressed jeans but this color could easily go with a sleek pair of pants and heels, or be styled over a fall dress for several completely different looks! This piece is all about functionality and versatility which is why I suggest adding one to your wardrobe this season.

SS '18 | KCFW Thursday Night Runway

Hello and Happy Wednesday! Today I am back with a post all about my Thursday night of S/S '18 Kansas City Fashion Week! This season I stepped back onto the attendee side of things (for the past 3 seasons I've been the Fashion Editor and a part of the Planning Committee)  and this season I was able to attend both the Thursday and Friday night shows at Union Station as a Media Blogger. Yeah!!! I had such a great time experiencing fashion week from the front row and seeing designers show some of the most amazing collections I could have ever imagined! I was so impressed by this season's selections! See some of my show highlights below

Thank You to my good friend Bella Lightner for snapping these pics of my look before the show!

Designers to Watch!

Rebekah Lux
@Rebekahluxdesigns

Rebekah Lux showed a gorgeous collection of throwback silhouettes and  beautiful fabrics! I couldn't take my eyes off of each look as they made their way down the runway! I loved the bell sleeves, two pieced outfits, and wide legged styles paired with gold or silver heels and black socks! It had a 70's meets modern vibe that I could absolutely see myself wearing this spring! A couple of looks in particular really stood out to me, a yellow almost pajama styled two piece outfit was a serious show-stopper! I looked around as it was making it's way down the runway and everyone was snapping pictures of this look! The next was a pink almost shimmer pant with a gorgeous bell sleeved top to match! I loved it!

Miranda Hanson Designs
@mirandahansondesigns

Miranda Hanson is a returning designer to the KCFW runway and I could see a huge growth in her as a designer since she last showed. I loved her elegant pieces and the gorgeous fabrics, which made for an eye-catching, exciting presentation! I had a huge interest in this pretty lavender color on a couple of different looks including  this high low strapless dress that would be a perfect bridesmaids look for my sister's upcoming wedding. She also showcased pops of green and ivory throughout this very earthy and girly collection.

DOUS
@dousmadeinla

This Fall season I have had a major love for wardrobe pieces that could have come from my husband's closet! I am obsessed with over-sized jackets and blazers, so when I saw the DOUS collection come down the runway with the "Los Angeles, Tokyo, New York, Milan.." lettering on the streetwear inspired collection, I could have fallen out of my chair! LOVED IT!!! It was edgy, fun, and incredible well made pieces that I could have pulled from the runway and worn out of the show immediately!

Now Trending: Ruffles + Lace | Summit Fair

Happy Thursday! Today I'm back with another look from the stores at Summit Fair. We've been so lucky in the Midwest to have had so many really warm fall days...almost too warm, more like HOT at times. I've been wisely wearing as many of my fall dresses now while I can before the cold weather sets in. I'm currently loving anything lace with dark floral prints!  Romantic Ruffles and Lace are two of the biggest Fall 2017 trends. As you know, I am a true girly-girl at heart,  so I really love the pretty feminine styles that are so popular in the stores at Summit Fair right now. Elle Magazine is calling "romantic ruffles" one of their top 10 Fall Trends and I completely agree! From tops and dresses to accessories you will find ruffles on just about everything this season! I found these amazing ruffled detail mule slide shoes and they have been a go-to style for me over the last couple of weeks. They are so fun to wear and a great way to incorporate the ruffle trend into my wardrobe. If you aren't as excited about the flouncy girly vibes as I am  start with  a small accessory piece like shoes or a handbag. It's easy to try out a trend in a small accessory item and gradually ease into more statement pieces later, but most of all just have fun with this trend, that's what fashion is all about!

Happy Shopping!

Talbots 70th Anniversary Collection

Today I am so excited to share this look inspired by Talbots 70th Anniversary Collection! Over the decades, Talbots has dressed some of the most influential, powerful, accomplished (and yes, cool) women—from Oprah and Katie Couric to Taylor Swift, Jessica Alba and Michelle Obama. For 70 years, millions of women have shared the special occasions wearing the timeless and timely pieces with the effortless chic and thoughtful confidence that epitomizes #ModernClassicStyle

 To celebrate this exciting milestone, Talbots has created a capsule collection of exclusive pieces, one for each of the seven decades in their story. From Lauren Bacall’s crisp white shirt (1940's) and Audrey Hepburn’s little black dress (1960's) to Ali MacGraw’s turtleneck (1970's) and Faye Dunaway’s power blazer (1980's), these style icons were the inspiration for the seven piece collection.

I chose to style the Iconic Cable Knit Sweater and the Signature Scarf into a go-to casual look perfect for the crisp cool fall weather! What I love about the Talbots 70th Anniversary Collection is that all of the pieces are completely interchangeable and literally could be a part of your wardrobe for years to come. They are classic timeless pieces that any women can wear and feel confident in wearing them for work or a casual weekend day!

Happy Anniversary Talbots!
