Summit Fair || Spring-ish Florals

I know...I know...I know...it's not technically Spring yet, but I'm seriously so ready to get out of my winter clothes and into some fun Spring attire, Aren't You?!?!  This has got to be one of the toughest times of the year for me to get dressed! I talked a little bit about this in yesterday's post. I know it's a little too early to get all of my fun spring dresses out, but there are some ways to easily transition some of my spring pieces into my current wardrobe.

Layer, Layer, Layer! Light weight jackets and vests are ideal for pairing with dresses and skirts.Keep the colors in your dresses bright with a darker background like black or navy so you can still pair them with a pair of booties or boots and tights if needed. Bright accessories are perfect for Pre-Spring looks as well! The pop of color is just what I need to remind myself that warmer days are right around the corner!

Each week I am scouting the stores at Summit Fair looking for new trends. January and February means "out with the old and in with the new" in the retail world. Pre-Spring merchandise is hitting the store floors and deep discounted clearance from fall and winter is plentiful. It's kind of an odd time for dressing as well as for shopping, so you really have look for pieces that can be weaved into your current wardrobe to make a seamless transition into Spring,

A light weight black vest like I found for this outfit would be a perfect piece to invest in. It will get you through spring and summer and will also transition nicely into Fall. A floral sleeved dress is also a great choice for layering and getting you through the chillier spring days.

Dress {c/o Charlotte Russe at Summit Fair} Vest {c/o Maurices at Summit Fair} Shorter Layered necklaces {c/o Charlotte Russe at Summit Fair} Long Necklace {Charming Charlie at Summit Fair} Gold Rings {Charming Charlie at Summit Fair} Mint colored tote {c/o Maurices at Summit Fair} Black booties {DSW at Summit Fair}

Amp up a transitional outfit with fun jewelry and don't forget to add some layered necklaces and dainty rings!

Are you as ready for Spring as I am? What are some spring trends you would like to see me style? Let me know in the comments below :)

Mid Week Neutrals

Well, we have made it to mid-week and today is suppose to be absolutely beautiful in Kansas City! 70 degrees in January, NO WAY right!?!
When the temps go up in the afternoon I have to layer my looks to accommodate. I've been loving this dark rose colored blazer lately. It's the perfect way to look polished and add some girly color to my neutral outfit.

 This is the time of year it gets kind of hard for me to get inspired to get dressed in the morning. I want to dress for  spring, but it's not quite spring yet, and I'm getting kind of tired of my winter clothes. I have to really work at keeping my closet organized and mixing in some pieces I don't often wear. It can be a challenge, but all the more reason to know what you have and keep your clothes organized by style.

Blazer {Maurices sold out similar one here that I love!} Leopard shirt {Maurices old similar here} Black Jeans {Loft} Gray Wedges {DSW} Gray Tote {Maurices old similar} Gold Necklace {gift} Sunnies {Urban Outfitters}

Neutrals go from season to season and are the easiest prints and colors to transition. These colors should build the base of your wardrobe and be where you spend the bulk of your clothing budget. Invest in neutral clothes that will last a long time and are pieces that have a "timeless" quality to them. Your most expensive clothes should always be in a neutral color to ensure you get the most for your money. Think about the "cost per wear" when you are investing in any piece of your wardrobe but especially your neutrals, it will help you make better buying decisions.

This leopard shirt I am wearing has been in my wardrobe for over 6 years! I'm pretty sure I bought it when I was working at Maurices in college! It's just one of those shirts that is great for layering and has always been a go-to. Leopard is a fabulous neutral print because it is trendy and adds pattern to an otherwise basic look. If you have a somewhat neutral outfit like I have here, add a chic blazer or a pop of color with your accessories!

Hopefully these tips will help you get through this tough time in between fashion seasons! If you have any questions about transitioning your wardrobe for spring let me know in the comments below, I'd love to hear from you!

Summit Fair || Now Trending: Pencil Skirts

Happy Thursday! It's the day of the week I bring you my weekly style finds from the stores at Summit Fair! This week I am excited to share with you the pencil skirt trend! This season the sleeker and tighter fitting skirts and dresses are making a major comeback! (that's right, all the more reason to keep working on my fitness, right?!?)  I found this one at Macy's and couldn't resist the black and white print and sassy slit!

These gray wedges from DSW have been a favorite of mine this season. They go with everything and can be dressy or casual! I love wedges and they will continue to be a staple in my spring wardrobe.

Jacket {c/o Macy's @ Summit Fair} Skirt {c/o Macy's in store only similar here and here} cream dress top extra 50% off!! {Loft @ Summit Fair} Necklace {Cato's @ Summit Fair in store only} Gray Wedges {DSW @ Summit Fair} Olivia & Joy Purse {c/o Macy's @ Summit Fair}

One of my recent favorite ways to style a skirt is to add a more casual top to a dressier skirt. It's a combination that makes the look a little more relaxed and trendy. Mixing styles and prints is a fun way to mix things up!

For the spring season add a pastel colored bag to your wardrobe. I LOVE this powder pink shoulder clutch with the gold accents! It even has a cute tassel detail!

Typically in January I would have added a pair of tights to this look to keep my legs warm, but this past weekend temps in Kansas City reached the 60's! I have major spring fever now and can't stop thinking about my spring wardrobe! If I can wear a skirt in January and not freeze I am doing it! :)

What do you think of this trend? Will you be adding a pencil skirt or two to your Spring wardrobe?

Casual Street Style

It was a beautiful weekend in Kansas City! I was lucky to get out and enjoy the warm sunshine with a walk on the plaza with my sister. We even found a perfect sun-filled patio to have lunch outside! I'm definitely ready for spring now!  For a casual day out and about I grabbed my comfy shoes and this super cute black and white check sweater that I have been wearing on constant repeat! Love it!

I've been inspired lately by street style and mixing athletic wear into more casual everyday looks. If you follow me on Pinterest you may have noticed me posting a ton of these looks lately. What inspires your style? Where do you look for fashion inspiration?

Fashion inspiration for me comes from many places, magazines or catalogs, TV shows, fashion week runways, and old movies. I challenge you this week to look around and find some fashion inspiration, try a new style!  :)  You can even find inspiration in your own closet! Pull some things out that you haven't worn for a while and move things around in your closet. This is an easy way to spark some ideas!

Black and White Cardi {Bogatte} Tee-Shirt {VS Pink} Dark Wash Denim {Vanity} Blue Handbag {c/o Audacious Boutique} Gray Converse {DSW similar} Necklace {gift} Sunglasses {Urban Outfitters}

Don't forget I'd always love to help you clean up your closet and find inspiration in the things you already own!

Today I am linking up with the lovely ladies over on the Trend Spin Linkup!

Hope you all have a great week!

I Can and I Will

Hey guys! I'm back from a mini break from the blog! It was good to refresh and refocus on myself and family for a little while and now I'm ready to get going for the new year! I've got some amazing things planned for this little blog of mine and some fun things to come in the next couple of weeks! Today I'm bringing you an active wear look from Maurices at Summit Fair. They have an amazing workout line called inMOTION that I have discovered and absolutely LOVE!

I'm proud to say I've made some pretty big goals for myself this year. First things first -- it's time to get Healthy! "I Can and I Will" are the words I will be living by in 2015!

A new set of workout clothes and new pair of running shoes are the perfect motivation to get moving!

I wanted to share a fun Treadmill Workout I tried the other night! It kicked my bootie but I'm going to keep it up!

Treadmill Shredmill Workout- I've already repinned this once but I just want everyone to know I burned more calories doing this than running 6 mph for 45 mins and its really easy and makes time go by super fast because your constantly switching it up. Love, Jynsen.
