{Outfit Post} : Navy Blue + Red 12.1.12

 Look of the Day...

I am loving mixing Navy blue and Red this fall! It is a nice change from the usual black I always wear and it has the same slimming effect as my favorite LBD.

This has become one of my favorite cardigans! I love the leapord pattern and the silver broach on the front. I purchased this almost two years ago at Maurices and have only worn it a few times up until this fall. I have it paired here with my favorite red jeans. Don't forget to vote for me in the Cotton 24 Hour Runway Contest by clicking he link above!

Cotton Street Style 11.16.12

Road To The Runway...

Cotton is searching the nation to find the best cotton style from different regions of the nation. The winning look from each region will receive a trip to South Beach and $2,500 to attend the 24 Hour Runway Show on March 1st and 2nd! 1,440 cotton looks will be walking the runway (that's one look per minute) FROM DAY TO NIGHT.....Amazing!!! Cotton has picked six bloggers (Fashion Influencers) from around the country to help them pick the top looks. The Fashion Influencers will help pick the best of the best, and America will vote on 6 regional winners who will inspire a nation of cotton style enthusiasts.

Arm Candy... Mix up your bracelets by adding a watch on your wrist. The more bracelets the better. I love this look and its so easy to make a bunch of bracelets look chic with a bold faced watch.

The easiest way to venture into the animal print trend for fall is to start with accessories. Try adding an animal print scarf, handbag, or ballerina flat into your wardrobe. This will be a cheaper and more subtle way of incorporating the trend into your wardrobe. I love mixing in my leopard scarf to add pattern into a solid look.

Halls Crown Center Fashion Blogger Tour 11.8.12

Last night I was invited to attend a blogger event at Halls Crown Center. I was so excited to meet new bloggers in KC and to also see some familiar faces! I was pleasantly surprised to see so many fashion bloggers all together! The blogging and fashion community in Kansas City has grown so much over the past couple of years and it is so exciting to be apart of it!

My fellow fashionistas and I were treated to complimentary snacks and wine with a grand tour of Halls Crown Center. There were raffled giveaways and of course vibrant red swag bags for attending, $25 gift card, and beautiful blue and turquoise earrings!

Blue and Turquoise leaf patterned earrings

Red Swag Bag, Rachel Zoe Makeup bag, and beautiful leaf patterned earrings, and $25.00 gift card

I purchased a Steve Madden cognac satchel bag with my $25.00 gift card! The bag was originally $98.00 on sale 40% off!

I enjoyed the tour of each department - Halls Downstairs, Halls Men's, Women's, Beauty, Kid Oh! and Accessories. The evening ended in Women's Wear with a presentation by my fellow Fashion Group International - KC Board Member, Tanya Gold. She pulled several pieces of some of the hottest trends and brands currently carried at Halls. Vegan Leather pants, Rabbit fur vests, Neon, and of course some holiday inspired sequins dresses. The price points at the Halls Crown Center location are more reasonable for me than the Plaza location, but like Tanya said in her presentation, two halls are better than one and they both compliment each other very well.

Veronica Beard Trunk Show 10.19.12

Sisters-in-Law Veronica Swanson Beard and Veronica Miele Beard began their clothing line in Fall of 2010. The line was jump started by "the jacket" with zip in linings that can be interchanged and removed. The idea is that it gives the illusion of a layered look without the bulk in the arms and back while wearing a jacket and sweater combo. Celebrities such as Gweneth Paltrow and Katie Holmes have been spotted sporting their jackets. The love of the must have jacket was just the beginning of this duos budding fashion line. Saks has recently picked up the line and it is also carried here in Kansas City at Halls.

I enjoyed meeting both designers last night and hearing their story. The Veronicas are an inspiration of hard working women in the fashion industry, between the two they have seven children and run their own business! The idea behind their line is that every women has a busy life and their clothes are "the uniform". Simplifying life with clothes that fit well without alot of fuss.

The zip in linings can be changed out of the outer shell to give the same jackets several different looks or the inner lining can be removed completely and worn alone.

Veronica Beard is more than just jackets, the line consists of beautifully tailored separates.

Jason Wu Trunk Show 10.17.12

Jason Wu presented his first collection for Fall/Winter in February 2006. He gained a huge burst in popularity when he designed a custom gown for First Lady Michelle Obama for the Inaugural Gala in 2009. His designs are always sophisticated and elegant with a modern edge.

My absolutely favorite collection from NY Fashion Week was the Spring 2013 Ready-to-Wear Collection by Jason Wu. When I found out that it was coming to Halls on the Plaza just a little over a month after it debut on the runway, I knew I had to see it in person! The shows finale dress was my ultimate motivation to see the collection.

This dress is B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. - there is no doubt why it was the finale piece in the collection! A beautiful flowing mesh outer shell of the dress covered in tiny silver stars. The top of the dress is a crisscross strap with a silver buckle detail. I can imagine any movie star wearing this as a red carpet look.

What I love most about this collection is the mix between feminine details, sparkle, and stones, mixed with leather, straps, and buckles. Its classy with just a little bit of edge.

Madewell Shopping Party Benefiting Back In The Swing! 10.11.12

This evening I was asked to help style models for the Madewell Shopping Party at Town Center Plaza! The party was hosted by Jess Afshar of Mimi and Chichi and Kim Wallace of kimberlyloc.com

10% of the sales from tonight's shopping party benefited the Back in The Swing non-profit
organization, which inspires breast cancer survivors to "get back in the swing" after fighting cancer.  Back in The Swing is dedicated to promoting joyful, healthy and proactive living through innovative fund-raising events, inspiring survivorship programs.

Jasmine was my beautiful model for the evening! Her and I both fell in love with these giraffe printed pants! I paired the pants with this stunning purple top and then layered with this super cute cropped jacket. I accessorized the look with this fab purple suede clutch, gold earrings, a little sparkle in a statement necklace, and gold bangles. Jasmine had the perfect shoes to complete the look!  The style of this outfit is edgy yet polished with the perfect amount of sass by bringing together the animal print and bright top.
