Tea Length Dresses | Summit Fair

If you have been out and about in the stores at Summit Fair you may have noticed a longer dress length appearing in the store front windows. Tea Length dresses or skirts hit right at the shin about two inches above the ankle. They are playful, polished, and feminine. It's the perfect length dress for all the spring/summer weddings, showers, and gradation parties currently filling up every one's calendars. I have really enjoyed incorporating a few tea length style dresses into my spring wardrobe. I love the sophisticated and glamorous style!

One thing to keep in mind when embracing the tea length trend is to remember where the hemline needs to fall on your shin. Having a skirt or dressed hemmed to the appropriate length is a really easy thing to do and it can make all the difference when making sure this style fits the way it's suppose to.

Summer Weekend Style

.

I don't know about you guys, but I am so ready for Memorial Weekend! I can't wait for summer -- BBQs, Pool Time, Vacations, Patio dinners, and Summer Sunshine!!!  My parents have a beautiful backyard and this past weekend we enjoyed our family Sunday together by cooking out and relaxing on their huge outdoor patio. It was the perfect end to the weekend! I am looking forward to spending much more time there this summer and relaxing by the pool as well!

This cute navy blue and coral stripe cotton dress will surely be on repeat this summer. It's so comfy and is the perfect style and fit for summer. I also love the nautical inspiration. (BONUS it's on major Sale!) Busy summer weekends also call for the perfect tote bag -- I found this pretty white and cognac one at target! It's already been a life saver!

Au Revoir! || Summit Fair

Au Revoir cold weather! It's officially travel season! Memorial day weekend is right around the corner and I've been planning my summer vacations and weekend getaways! Weather you are traveling near or far or having a nice "staycation" comfy travel clothes are always a plus, but you don't want to loose your sense of style while you travel. I love to wear maxi dresses for ease and comfort as well as how easy they are to transition from day to night. Find a maxi dress in a no fuss fabric and make sure the length is just right for flats or a small wedge sandal.

This look would also be perfect for weekend brunch and then browsing the farmers market. A cute Maxi dress makes a great choice for weekend wear as well!

**Jana Style Quick Tip**  It's always important to consider your body shape and size when picking out the best maxi dress for you. To avoid looking frumpy or unshapely it all depends on how you STYLE it! I have a shorter frame so I chose to wear a solid color with a shorter jacket which defined my waistline. I also chose a longer necklace to elongate my torso and went with a wedge sandal to give myself some height.

Adieu, Good–Bye, Ave, Bon Voyage, Congé, Au Revoir! Have a safe and happy travel season! I'd love to know where you are planning to travel over Memorial Weekend or this Summer!?! Any cities or hot spots I should put on my travel wish list?

Travel Diary ::: NEW YORK

If you are following along with me on Instagram, you know I just returned from a fabulous trip to New York! I am the Co-Regional Director of the Kansas City Fashion Group International chapter and each year the regions meet for conference at the New York head quarters. This weekend was filled with amazing parties, networking opportunities with fashion industry leaders, and great motivational speakers. I had such an fabulous time!

Fashion Group International has been a huge part of my connection with so many people in Kansas City and beyond. I have made some life long friends and colleges through the two FGI trips I have made to New York and the events and partnerships I have been involved in planning for the Kansas City region. So many people reach out to me and ask how I have made things happen for myself in the fashion industry and I truly believe it has to do with the people you connect with and the relationships you build through networking.

Lord and Taylor New York hosted our FGI conference in their department store theater.

I love the hustle and bustle of the City! Hailing cabs and grabbing delicious pastries and fruit for breakfast!

Elaine Turner hosted our fist night's networking happy hour in her gorgeous uptown store!

Our Merit Awards dinner was held at the elite Cosmopolitan Club. The view from the terrace was so gorgeous!

Dinner was followed by drinks on the rooftop of the Strand Hotel with an unbelievable view of the Empire State Building.

This trip to New York was really inspiring to me. It was what I needed to feel a little spark of excitement again for all the work I have been doing lately. Sometimes, getting out and away can make things seam much more clear. That is why I LOVE to travel so much.  I'm looking forward to the next couple of months!  Stay tuned.....

Spring Prints | Summit Fair

These warm spring nights in Kansas City have been perfect for patio hopping. I love this time of year when the evening sunlight last just a little bit longer and the temps are just right for enjoying a Happy Hour outside. I spotted this dress at Summit Fair and knew it would be perfect to meet up with a couple of friends for appetizers and cocktails! You can't go wrong with a halter styled dress for the warmer spring and summer nights. I also love the light weigh cotton material and high waisted blous-y top. I paired this black and white tribal print dress with a cute light weight duster vest in a bright pink color!
