Casual Fall Layers | Summit Fair

Happy Thursday Friends! It's starting to really look and feel like fall around Kansas City! I've been loving the cool crisp mornings and warmer afternoons we've been lucky to have lately. Although I love this weather, it can make getting dressed a bit of challenge in the morning, so I've been wearing light easy breezy layers. I love this lantern sleeved blouse because it's light weight but still keeps my arms covered and it's perfect for pairing with jackets and vests this time of year. When you are out shopping the stores at Summit Fair, look for tops that can be worn under things and on their own during this slightly warmer than usual fall weather. Soon enough the weather will change for the colder and it will be nice to have these tops to pair with heavier sweaters and jackets.

Structured Blanket Scarf

Every fall I get so excited to find the perfect blanket scarf for layering and styling with all my favorite fall outfits. A "blanket scarf" is a little bit different than the usual scarf. It's very large and typically made from a warm flannel-like fabric and could actually be used as a small blanket. Equally as exciting to me is the fact that I found a local Kansas City company called Structured that is creating some of the most stylish and unique patterned blanket scarves I've seen! I love that each one has it's own special name, this blue and gray checked one, called "The Dallas" caught my eye right away! When I saw it I knew it would look great paired with denim and boots!  It's super soft and warm and I know that I will be wearing it all the time once the weather truly turns cold. I've got several outfit ideas that I can't wait to style it with.

There are several ways to tie a blanket scarf. My favorite way is to fold the scarf from corner to corner creating a sort of triangular shape, then wrapping it or tying the ends around the back of my neck and then fluffing or looping it until I get just the right amount of volume and texture. There really is no wrong way to wear a blanket scarf, they are meant to have a lot of volume and create a statement with your fall looks. Try wearing it as a shawl or even a vest with a belt around your waist. There are so many styling possibilities and it's so fun to find new ways to wear them!

Check out the recently released new styles from Structured! I'm loving "The Julia" and "The Marilyn" and will probably be adding these pretties to my scarf collection this season!

Do you have any tips for tying a blanket scarf? Leave a comment below and let me know, I'm always looking for new ideas!

Styling A Sweater Dress | Summit Fair

One of my favorite fall wardrobe pieces is the sweater dress. It is such a great layering piece and can easily be styled so many different ways! I found this mock turtle neck, textured, midi length one while looking through the stores at Summit Fair this week. I decided to style it by layering it up with an over-sized poncho. Later on in the season it will be great to layer with a heavier long sweater and boots. Treating the dress as a base layer in your outfit planning is a great way to get so much more style out of it than by just simply wearing it by itself.

Happy October! It's that time of the year, time to put away those flip flops and start thinking about Fall/Winter shoes. Today I gathered a couple of my favorite fall trends from some of the stores at Summit Fair! Fall 2016 is all about chunky heeled booties, lace up details, fringe, and buckle accents. Merlot and Olive colors are a very strong trend in accessories and shoes this season, so adding a pop of color to your outfit is no problem with one of these styles of booties. Look for suede, leather, and velvet details on just about all of the hottest shoe trends this season!

2. Adidas Superstar Casual Sneakers - DSW - $60
3. Caged Lace up Sandal - Macy's - $70

Savers Halloween Costume | Mary Poppins

Savers is your one-stop shop for Halloween! With new and used costumes and accessories, it’s easy to create a unique, one-of-a-kind look. During Halloween, Savers stocks its shelves with new packaged costumes, makeup, wigs and accessories – perfect to combine with the secondhand clothing and accessories that fill the aisles at Savers. I found this black flat top hat and instantly knew I was going to transform it, next I picked up a package of faux flowers for $1 and hot glued them on the cap and....there it was.... my inspiration for this year's costume!

In-store costume consultants will help you create a unique look with DIY Halloween costumes, tips, and tricks. When I visited the store I noticed the Savers staff dressed in head-to-toe Halloween looks ready to help me find all the pieces I needed. I had a couple of ladies help me look through the racks and find the perfect pieces to bring my Mary Poppins look come to life! Plus, all stores are hosting free Halloween Costume Catwalk fashion shows at 3 p.m. every Thursday in October showcasing the season's most popular and unique looks for adults and children alike. There’s is also no shortage of Halloween décor, either. Stock up on skulls and more to decorate for a spooky chic Halloween party or a few porch accents will bring the spirit to life for all the neighborhood trick-or-treaters!

More Fall Florals + Flare Denim | Summit Fair

Happy Thursday! I'm back with another fall look from the stores at Summit Fair!

The floral top has been one of my "go-to" statement pieces this fall season. I've found so many pretty patterns and styles and I've been loving mixing it in with my favorite fall wardrobe staples. This flutter back navy and rose pattern top really caught my eye, I knew I wanted to style it with a great pair of dark denim. I've been eyeing these high-waisted flare styles that I've been seeing all over the runways and in several fashion magazines. I've really been excited to add this style to my fall wardrobe. This pair isn't quite as flared as I wanted, but I will keep shopping for a couple more styles. My goal is to have several different fits and styles of denim in my fall wardrobe this year.

What denim trends have you been loving?
