Last weekend I was thrilled to be able to participate in the
#RoadToReal tour with Katherine Schwarzenegger at T.J.Maxx in Kansas City!
Katherine is a best-selling author, Lifestyle on Your Terms blogger, and of course the daughter of Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
She has appeared on The Today Show, as a guest co-host of The View and is a
regular contributor to InStyle Magazine. Her passion for speaking,
reporting, interviewing, and using her voice to make a positive change in the world is very inspirational!
Katherine traveled to 16 cities across the U.S. this summer to meet everyday women who shop at T.J.Maxx with real stories of survival, hope, and inspiration! I'm sure you've heard the saying "everyone has a story", sometimes the people we encounter everyday are going through some of biggest struggles we could ever imagine, but we may never know. When I heard about this tour I knew I wanted to sit down with Katherine and find out about her journey across the U.S. and hear what she has experienced by interviewing and talking with over 400 women!
"88 percent of women look to other real women like themselves for true inspiration, but 71 percent don’t feel like there is enough of a spotlight on those stories and experiences." - @T.J.Maxx
The idea behind this campaign really hit home with me for several reasons. I meet many women through my closet audits, personal shopping, and blog who share such amazing stories with me. I know personally how strong and inspirational women are, and feel really grateful for the clients and readers I have here at Jana Style that trust me with their closets and stories of their personal growth through fashion. I know many times it's much deeper than the actual "fashion" part, and more about finding confidence and feeling good about ourselves. I asked Katherine several questions when I sat down with her about her journey through the Road to Real, but the one thing she said when I sat down with her that stuck with me was that, "no matter what any women has gone through, or how many rough experiences they have had, the most important thing to them is still to make a difference in the world and their community." It's such a gift to be able to sit down with real women and hear their stories and let them share a part of their life with me."
I can't thank the team at T.J.Maxx and Katherine enough for
letting me pop into her #RoadtoReal sessions and chat with her about this
amazing campaign! The tour has now officially ended with Kansas City being the
last of 16 city stops, but I asked Katherine if she planned to hit the road
again soon..."RoadToReal 2.0??? We'll See!" :) The tour will culminate in a
gallery event in New York City this fall, where Katherine and T.J.Maxx
will unveil a collection of photography and stories captured along the road
about inspiring women in communities across the country!
