The company’s inception was sparked when Annie, an anthropology student studying in Peru, purchased an alpaca sweater with a fur-lined collar for her mother Biddy as a birthday gift. The sweater was adored by Biddy’s friends, who encouraged the pair to begin importing them. Peruvian Connection soon grew into a globally recognized brand specializing in artisan-made, luxury apparel inspired by Andean textile traditions. Every knit or print in the collection draws on authentic, historical designs, colors, and materials.
Next year, Peruvian Connection will celebrate its 50th Anniversary. The company was founded in 1976 by mother and daughter duo, Annie and Biddy Hurlbut, and remains a family-owned business, still operated from the family farm in Tonganoxie, Kansas, where Annie continues to lead the company.
