A few months ago I was asked to join hosts, Sondra and Jeni of the Power of Words Podcast presented by the Kansas City Public Library & JFSKC. I was asked about the Kansas City connection to Kate Spade and her many amazing quotes that bring inspiration to so many in the fashion community. I was lucky to meet Kate when she visited Kansas City several years ago before her death, I attended the launch of her brand Frances Valentine at Halls called "Cocktails with Kate" and had an opportunity to visited her showroom in New York City during NYFW. I am so glad I was able to have a personal connection to her because her influence on the fashion world was one-of-a-kind. Her story of entrepreneurship and building the Kate Spade brand is truly so inspirational. Her style was uniquely her own and she stayed true to that vision making the Kate Spade brand one of the most well known and recognizable brands in the entire fashion industry.

It was an honor to be chosen as the first group of Kansas City community leaders and influencers to be a part of the Power of Words podcast production. We discussed how words can affect mental health, how words can inspire and shape personal growth, and the overall impact that words can have on our personal connections.
As a blogger and fashion influencer that has put myself out into the world through my blog and social media channels, I know the power of positivity and the important impact of keeping negativity from affecting my mental health. My blog, social media channels, and overall brand have always been my outlet to express my love of fashion and to connect with other women who love style, shopping, and fashion as much as I do. I know that the women who follow me come from all walks of life and have various experiences and life stories and that has always inspired me. Those connections mean the world to me!

Jana has worked with several local fashion industry organizations such as Fashion Group International as the Regional Director for the Kansas City chapter and she has held the role of Fashion Editor at Kansas City Fashion Week. Jana has volunteered her time to many runway shows, photo shoots, and media events, to promote the growing fashion industry in the Kansas City area.
