Kansas City Fashion Week | Friday Night Highlights

Friday March 21st Highlights

ANDREA MARIE LONG DESIGNS

Andrea Marie Long has shown collections three seasons at Kansas City Fashion Week. I'm always really impressed by her design aesthetic and how each collection she shows is always very different than the previous one. I loved the way she mixed lace and this beautiful watercolor print in this season collection. The long, flowy, asymmetrical one shouldered dress was my absolute favorite look from this collection!

LUCIA'S SARTO by NATALIYA MEYER

Nataliya Meyer has also shown at Kansas City Fashion Week in the past. I always look forward to seeing her beautiful gowns. I was so in love with all the lace and sparkle of this collection! Particularly the floral full skirt dress below! It was may favorite look from the the whole Friday night show!

SARA KAHRS

I was really impressed by Sara Kahrs and her dress collection. The dress that stood out to me the most in this seasons collection was the crop top white gown. It was so gorgeous when it came down the runway and I loved it!

LAUREN BANDER

I am always so excited to see Lauren Bander's collections. This season was no exception! Tulle, Lace, Leather, Gold and Deep purple were a big part of this seasons looks! Lauren showed some of her signature long flowy gowns, wrapped scarves, and tied waist bands, throughout her F/W 2015 collection of edgy and feminine pieces.

JANE OF ALL

Jane of All by Chelsea Riane featured cool street style vibes all throughout this collection! I LOVED this first look with the blue crop top and almost paint splattered looking skirt. Jane of All garments are made out of natural materials, hand-dyed by the designer herself, using natural dyes made out of various fruits, vegetables, roots and spices. All of which lend a beautiful color to natural fabrics. I enjoyed seeing the original prints and some gorgeous body jewelry on several of the looks! This was a fun collection to watch come down the runway and I'm looking forward to seeing Chelsea's new line continue to evolve.

MARIA BEHNEN

Maria Behnen is such a talented designer. Her collection was a rainbow of vintage styled looks featuring wide legged pants, animal prints, and gorgeous sheer fabrics. She has a very impressive background of 30 + years designing ready to wear and accessories, most notably alongside high profile designer Nanette Lepore in New York. I really enjoyed this beautiful collection!

Kansas City Fashion Week | Friday Night Look featuring Lauren Bander

My Friday night look for Kansas City Fashion Week was extra special to me. KCFW designer Lauren Bander allowed me to wear one of her dresses to the show! I have been a big fan of Lauren for several seasons now and have really loved watching her designs evolve. Lauren is a St. Louis based designer with an eye for mixing feminine flirty fabrics with an edgy vibe. Lauren had the opportunity to study fashion design in Paris and was recognized as the winner of Project Design in 2012. She has also shown her pieces in New York Fashion Week! When she agreed to meet me before the show to pick out a dress I was ecstatic! I chose this sheer cream dress with pretty woven fabric that almost looked like beading, as the dress of the night! I paired it with my leather jacket and gold accessories to give it the same feel as the collections that I have loved from Lauren over the past several seasons.

I will have more from the Friday night show on the blog later this week and a recap of Lauren's latest collection which debuted that night! Thank you Lauren for being so generous and allowing me to represent you at KCFW!

The Printed Maxi Dress | Summit Fair

I'm so excited that the weather has warmed up and I can finally wear all my favorite dresses again! I spotted this dress at LOFT at Summit Fair and I was instantly in love with the geometric print and light weight fabric! Every girl needs a bold patterned dress for spring! I paired the dress with gold jewelry and a sparkly gold belt for a fun pop of pretty!

I'm a shortie, so I always have to wear some sort of heightened shoes when I wear a maxi dress. I love these grey suede wedges I got from DSW earlier in the season. They go with everything and are the perfect dressy shoe to pair with my maxi dress.

When styling a maxi dress it's always important to define your waist. Use a belt or tie or even a shortened jacket or vest to draw your waist in. A maxi dress can be a very versatile piece in your wardrobe. It can easily be transitioned from casual to dressy with the right accessories. I love effortless dressing and easy go-to style, so a maxi dress has become one of my staple spring/summer pieces.

Kansas City Fashion Week | Thursday Night Highlights

Thursday Night's Kansas City Fashion Week show was so amazing!  The excitement was in the air as the first of three runway shows kicked off the Spring 2015 season at Union Station. The designers presented a flawless mix of menswear, childrens, and womens wear designs to a packed crowd of KC's most fashionable. I pulled out three collections that I loved from the show!

Tom Paolini is a Kansas City based menswear designer specializing in custom made suits, sports coats, trousers, shirts, tuxedos, and over coats. His family background in the clothing industry paired with his experience in business development and sales management for multiple Fortune 500 companies gives him a unique perspective as a designer and business owner.  Tom’s store “Paolini Garment  Company” located on the country club plaza is a gem of Kansas City.  I loved the collection of pieces he showed on Thursday night. I was impressed by the seamless mix of dressy and casual pieces paired together.  The collection featured sports coats paired with dark denim, popped sweater collars under lined jackets, and perfectly fit suits and ties.

Ami Beck is the talented designer behind these beautiful leather handbags. She is a recent graduate of Stephens College (Columbia, MO) and founded Dolyn Bags in early 2014. This is her first season showing in Kansas City Fashion Week, and I was blown away! Each bag had beautiful detailing and perfect stitching.  If this is just her first collection at KCFW, I am thrilled to see where she goes from here! She is definitely a designer to watch and I am also excited to work with her as a Fashion Group International Kansas City member!

Molly is the youngest designer that showed this season at Kansas City Fashion Week. She is a 15 year old womens wear designer from Omaha, NE. She blew me away with her vintage inspired street wear collection! My favorite look featured these wide legged yellow printed trousers. I also always admire a designer who pays attention to styling details and Molly did an excellent job! Tall knee high socks paired with high heels, small vintage fringe purses, and headbands created a bohemian feel to the looks and I loved the overall presentation of the collection.

Kansas City Fashion Week | Night One Look

What a week it has been! Kansas City Fashion Week is always a whirlwind!  Thursday night kicked off the big shows at Union Station with a Cocktail Party and Runway Event. It's always so fun to see so many amazing people in the KC fashion scene come together to support our vibrant industry! Attending KCFW is always a highlight of my Spring and Fall seasons. I wish I could repeat it all over again this weekend! :)

For the Thursday night show I wore this pretty dress from my friends at @Jolly's Boutique. I am in love with the polk-a-dot shear sleeves and jacquard fabric in the pale mint color! It's a perfect spring dress and I know I will be wearing it again soon! I kept my heels and jewelry simple with a pop of pink lipstick.

Thanks to my friend Andrea from Style My Way for taking my outift pics before the show! Make sure to checkout my social instagram & twitter for some behind the scenes pics!
